How to win all the time without getting lucky?
2 minutes read
It is the dream of every salesperson to win every deal.
In sports, the secret of winning all the time is straightforward indeed… playing against people who have a lower level than you. If you play tennis and would like to win all the time, you choose weaker opponents than you. It is also valid for team sports or video games. This is the best way to ensure that you win all the time.
But, are you sure this is something you want?
The answer is no. Winning all the time like this will become dull after a couple of games. Lack of challenge will keep you away from learning and development. Lack of learning will take your enjoyment away. And after a while, your level will also regress, and you will lose your desire to play.
So, winning all the time is not suitable for your enjoyment, learning, and performance.
The same is valid for the salespeople. Therefore, why create tons of pressure to win every deal?
First of all, it is not realistic. In an open market, you cannot win every deal. Secondly, it is not really what you need. What you need are worthy rivals who challenge you and reveal your weaknesses so that you can work on your development. You will develop either by improving your weaknesses, or reinforcing your strengths to become even stronger. And all this brings you enjoyment.
You have two choices, winning all the time against weak rivals, or working together with worthy rivals and keep learning, developing while having the pleasure of playing.
So, please rethink whenever you see yourself under pressure to win and ask yourself: Do you really want to win all the time? If the answer is yes, please come back and read this post again😊 If the answer is no, you will know that losing some deals is part of your development. And you truly win only if you learn after each deal regardless of the result.
